Can Fast Food Hurt Your Fertility?
A new Harvard University research shows that trans fats, often found in deep-fried foods, could double a woman's risk of ovulatory infertility (the most common kind). You may want to hold the fries if you're trying to conceive.
While overall risk is still low, eating 4 grams of these fats a day (about the amount in a small order of fries) could have this effect. "Trans fats decrease the body's sensitivity to insulin, which can lead to reproductive hormone imbalances," says researcher Jorge Chavarro, M.D.
So, ladies, there's nothing to lose (except fats), if we try to control our intake of trans fats, right? ;). Might even be a healthier practice for those who are planning to have babies.
