Your Body: What's Normal and Not!

Almost daily, our body feels some pains, from light to severe. But even when we feel pain that are light and manageable, we should listen up when our body talks. Simple symptoms like achy shoulders or chapped lips could signal something serious.

Cracked Lips: A simple solution like lip balm may be the best solution, but it may also mean a sign of yeast infection, says Sharon Allen, a dermatologist in Boulder, Colorado.

What you can do:
Licking your lips may make it worst because saliva encourages yeast growth. So the correct remedy is to treat the source of the problem which is dehydration. Drink a lot of water.
If your lips still crack, apply lip balm like a beeswax balm or Vaseline. This stops pooling of saliva which encourages yeast. A topical anti fungal or hydrocortisone cream may also help.

Shoulder Or Torso Pain:
Symptoms like severe chest pain beneath the rib cage, backache and shooting pains in the right shoulder or it feels like a heart attack or a bad heartburn. It could mean you have gallstones. Painful gallstones form when your gallbladder doesn't empty properly into the gut. Some would treat it with acid-blocking drugs which wouldn't work because heart burn isn't the problem.

What you can do:
Avoid high-fat, high cholesterol diets like red meat and French fries. Fats contracts the gallbladder more forcefully. The next time you have unexpected shoulder or chest pain right after eating a fatty meal or at night, see your doctor and talk about gallstones. Being overweight increases the risk too.

Neon Pink Gums:
It could mean you clench your teeth! Healthy gums are colored pale pink. But if they're bright pink and bordering on red, that's not good.

What to do:
Try using mouth guards and see your dentist to get the best fit. Avoid stress as well as it might give your teeth a break too from teeth clenching!

Burning in Ball of Your Foot:
It could mean you've got Morton's neuroma, which is the thickening or enlargement of the nerves in your foot, usually between the 3rd and 4th toes. The symptom feels like you're walking on a stone at first, - that may develop as a chronic jabbing pain if not treated. Common causes are too much wearing of high heels.

What to do:
Switch to a new shoes with a lower heel and a wider toe box. Arch supports also help take the pressure off the foot, but custom orthotics may also be necessary.
Some doctors give cortisone shots to reduce swelling of nerve tissues, and surgery if it's an extreme case.

Cancer-Fighting Breakfast

The anthocyanin pigments that give berries their blue color can attack cancer-causing free radicals, - a research confirmed by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

For a 1-2 punch, sprinkle berries on folate-fortified granola or fortified cereal - the folic acid helps reduce the chances of DNA mutations, which can potentially lead to cancer.

You'll be fighting cancer even before your morning coffee kicks in!

Essential Steps to Cleaning a Grill

Cleaning your grill every after use is a good practice. Use stainless steel wire brush or brass to clean it when the grates are still warm.
Other alternative option is to turn the burner to high before you grill, then brush the hot grates after smoke clears.
If your grill doesn't have porcelain coating, use crumpled aluminum foil to scrape them once they're cool.

Use hot, soapy water to clean the grill brush after every use to prevent bacteria from growing due to food caught in the bristles.

Empty the grease catch pan after it cools because heat can cause grease to catch fire.
Wipe the pan and use a grille brush to scrape out any stubborn residue;
You can use disposable liners made by the grill's manufacturer as another option if available.

Strive to work with your kids to plan and pack their lunches. They will get the opportunity to choose about the food they like and learn to prepare simple food preparation methods as well.

Keep juice boxes frozen overnight, and pack them in the morning in the lunch bags. They will also help keep sandwiches and other foods cold and will be thawed and ready to drink by lunch time.

Give more options aside from the main peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Try placing a peeled banana in a hot dog roll, or spread peanut butter and jelly on top of the banana for a more interesting twist.

4 Danger Signs Women Should Not Ignore

Note: For nos. 1 & 2, call 911; for nos. 3 & 4, see your doctor!
  1. Shortness of breath or fainting - these may signal a clot in your lungs known as pulmonary embolism,-and being overweight also increases your risks.

  2. Unexplained throat pain - it may mean heart attack if you feel jaw and throat discomfort, sweating, nausea, and unexplained fatigue. Classic symptoms are arm and chest pains more common in men.

  3. Unusual vaginal bleeding - Other than normal menstrual flow or common spotting due to contraceptives, it may mean ectopic pregnancy, cervical inflammation or even uterine cancer.

  4. Persistent stomach trouble - If you have diarrhea, cramping or rectal bleeding, don't wait weeks til it vanish. These symptoms may mean signs of inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's or ulcerative colitis) that can increase the risk for colon cancer.

Crowd Control Products

Safety measures are still a must to ensure proper crowd control from the public, - whether in long lines for concerts, banks, shows, political events, grocery stores, etc.

One ideal example for ordinary and simple public guidance would be the use of stanchions that come in different designs. They are commonly used nowadays in banks or parks, so I know many are familiar with these. Those that are designed with velvet rope also meet the demands of convention events and proven to be tough for years.

For more enhanced security, there are choices of traffic barricades as well.
It's up to you to choose the product that would be best for your business.

Which Planner Is ideal For You?

In choosing the right planner, it's vital to consider the fact that the fewer minutes it takes you to learn it, the better! So, ask yourself, what's my planner going to be used for?
Do you prefer paper or electronic? Is it only for your personal use or does your family needs access too?

If you are a paper person, go with a sleek planner with a durable binder or cover. Simple and affordable. Choose the lightweight one that fits in your purse and which you use it most of the times a day.

If you prefer electronic ones, go with a calendar and task-management program that runs on both PDAs and computers for easier access wherever, whenever. You can also plan appointments, prioritize your to-dos and set reminder alarms.
make sure that's it's sync-ready to another device regularly, even if you don't use it, so you always have a full back up.

Wedding Glitches & Fixes!

No one wants to experience embarassing moments on your big day, but don't ignore them either no matter how confident you feel they won't happen.

Glitch: Someone accidentally stepped on your train and rips it!
Quick Fix: If your train is tulle, ignore it; no one will be able to spot the damage. If it's made of fabric, use safety pins to repair the tear, then have your MOH bustle the train.

Glitch: An unexpected cold front threatens to freeze your guests at your outdoor ceremony.
Quick Fix: Call a party-rental company the moment you hear the temperature's taking a nosedive and reserve enough outdoor heat lamps to keep guests warm. (Party rentals suggest one heater for every 12 square feet.)
For lesser alternative, move ceremony indoors, like perhaps to the same venue as your reception. Then alert guests by phone about the change.

Glitch: Your ring bearer keeps flinging the ring pillow to the floor.
Quick Fix: It's always safe to use fake rings on the pillow. Ask his mom to step in, and if she can't stop the kid from tossing it, don't let him walk. Instead, seat him with his parents and let the show go on without him.

Glitch: You're getting gas pains due to stress.
Quick Fix: Try any product that helped you in the past, from over-the-counter meds such as Mylanta, Rolaids or yogurt with prebiotics like Yoplus or Activia. Chew slowly and don't use straws for drinking, and avoid carbonated drinks. You need to avoid gulping more air.

Glitch: Your singer can't make it, and you don't like the replacement's style.
Quick Fix: Have someone ask the band leader if someone else can sing. If not, either let them go the instrumental route or check with the band if they can layer digital music over its own playing.

Glitch: A guest who said "no" showed up at the reception.
Quick Fix: Take a deep breath, and welcome your surprise guest with open arms, then let your caterer take care of the rest. Any party pro worth his salt should be able to round up a seat and a meal for your "unexpected" (plus one) guest.
