Age Spots Treatments

Have you been searching for wrinkle creams that can actually work well on your age spot? It's kind of tough choosing one, isn't it? With so many of those products in the market today, they all promise the same thing and yet they are not all created equal.
A comprehensive and honest reviews from the users and the experts will be a great help to find you the best one that really works for you. Plus, you will be surprised that many of the products are cheaper compared to what you see on the store shelves ;).

Caring for Your Shoes Properly

I bet you got your own favorite pair of shoes. To keep them looking at their best and better prolong their life, here are some helpful tips.

If you'll do a lot of walking for the shoes, you might want to take that to a cobbler after buying them and ask him to put a thin layer of rubber on the souls.
Most shoe repair shops sell water proofing spray for leathers or suede as well, and when you have them, spray shoes at least 6 inches away. Spraying it too close to a leather shoe can cause spotting and may dry out the leather.

Leather shoes should be cleaned at least once a month with a flannel cloth. Use the cloth with a cream designed to keep leather moist, leave cream on shoes for few minutes, then wipe it dry.
For suede, use a brush (old toothbrush or nail brush) down the shoe in one direction. Avoid metal brushes as they can be too abrasive.

You can dry clean your shoes that have silk, satin or other cloth shoes that get dirty.

The small piece at the bottom of the heel (heel lift) can wear down to the nail, making them irreparably damaged. SO, be sure to replace them before that happens.

Wear rubber boots during bad weather. If you get caught in the rain, put leather shoes in a warm place to dry as soon as you get home. Place it close to the heater but not on it. When shoes are dry, rub them with conditioning cream and put in shoe trees to regain their shape.
Stick to patent leather if you should wear your heels in the rain.

Store your shoes right by keeping them in their boxes if you have enough space. Otherwise, hanging shoe organizers will work out fine. Don't pile up shoes on the floor of your closet since any sort of weight will deform them.
Use shoe trees to keep them in shape, while fabric shoe trees are perfect for heels and high-heeled boots, and cedar ones are best for flats. They absorb moisture and odor.

How to Paper a Wall - D.I.Y.

You can have an affordable and easy to hang wallpaper that can give you a rich, chic texture no paintbrush can, and yet still pretty ever!

You'll need:
  • drop cloth
  • stepladder
  • measuring tape
  • metal straightedge
  • utility knife
  • paste (specific to your paper type)
  • foam paint roller
  • wallpaper brush
  • sponge
  • work surface (like table)
  • wallpaper (try vinyl-coated with a free match pattern)
Before starting, take note that wallpapering is a two-person job. Have a helper available;).
Measure wall length and multiply that number by the room's height so you will determine how many rolls you'll need. (Standard roll is 15 feet.)
Remove everything from the wall and spackle any holes, then wipe-down the entire wall with a damp sponge.

First step: Cutting.
Measure wall and divide its width by the paper width to know how many strips you need. Cut paper in strips 6 inches longer than the wall's height to allow for shifting to match patterns. Use a level to make a plumb vertical line at the wall's midpoint. use this to also align the paper.

Second step: Pasting.
Lay paper pattern-side down then use a paint roller to apply thin, even layer of paste to the back. Make sure you completely covered the entire surface, including edges.

Third step: Booking.
Fold strip into thirds gently by bringing two ends toward the center 9don't overlap them), and be careful not to crease the paper.
Allow to set for 10 minutes. This will help the paper absorb the paste which makes it easier to manipulate on the wall.

Fourth step: Hanging.
Unfold the top half of the booked strip, living it up with the plumb line, and overlap the edge at the ceiling by about 3 inches.
Smooth paper outward and downward with a wallpaper brush to remove air bubbles. Unfold and smooth down the bottom half once you reach the middle.

Fifth step: Trimming.
Paste doesn't stick right away, so you can shift the paper until the seams match and the design is straight. Then, trim excess paper at the top and bottom with utility knife.

Sixth step: Dry-and you're done!

Things You Never Knew About Parenting

Common parenting rules seem like no-brainers,-praising kids, teaching siblings to be nice to one another, etc. But whether we like it or not, guidelines like these for some are actually doing more harm than good. Basing on the book Nurture Shock: New Thinking About Children, written by P. Bronson & A. Merryman had made the most startling discoveries.

"Siblings that squabble together is better than be peaceful apart."
According to Bronson, siblings are going to fight because they know their brother/sister will always be there. It can be a torture to watch but instead of constantly refereeing the kids, it's the smartest move for parents to point out activities that siblings enjoy together.
According to studies, they show that kids who play together even if they're calling each other "poopyface" have closer relationships than kids who simply play alone.

"Telling your kids they're smart all the time can make them dumber." Although it's natural for parents to help boost their kids' self-esteem, stroking their egoes constantly by telling them how bright they are can have an opposite effect. It's another way of telling them that smartness is something they either have or don't have. Instead, praise their effort such as "great job". Kids will learn they possess the ability to control how well they do by working harder.

"Kids are going to lie...and it's okay." Parents shouldn't be too upset when their preschooler kid tells a lie. This means the child is cognitively advanced enough to have in their mind both the truth and an alternative idea that requires a lot of attention control, Bronson said.
You should take note though that by age 7, kids should be kicking the falsehood habit. You can best help them by letting your kids know you'll be happy if they admit the truth, since kids are fixated on making their parents happy, instead of punishing them for lying.

Fast Hair Blowout Tricks

Towel hair dry, and set an ionic dryer on high heat with medium speed. Lift hair as you blast the roots, raking your fingers from root to ends, following each motion with the dryer.

Make a horizontal part 2 inches back from the hairline, and clip up the front. Set dryer to high speed and heat to dry sides and back. Pull 3-inch wide sections out to the side with a round brush, wrap the ends around the brush, and secure with your thumb. Run dryer up and down the section with dryer's nozzle pointing down.

Unclip the front layers, and position hair brush under the hair starting at your forehead and pull each section straight up. Roll hair back to scalp, hold a few seconds, then unroll. Repeat til the top section is dry. Finish it by blasting hair using the cool setting to dry damp spots, then smooth hair with a drop of serum. If hair is fine, mist it with hair spray.

How To Care For Your Sweaters

Want to keep your sweaters always clean? Here are the best ways to consider:

If your washer has a "wool" or "hand wash" cycle, it's fine to put any cotton sweaters or wool or cashmere knits that don't have embroideries or sequins.
Pre treat collar and underarms with enzyme-based stain solution, then use a sulfate-free cleanser in the machine.

If your machine doesn't have the right cycle, wash by hand. Add couple squirts of gentle cleanser, mix then add the sweaters. Wash them with similar colors, pretreat as mentioned above.
Rinse with tap water after 30 minutes until water runs clear, then press, (never wring) out the excess.

Lay the sweaters flat to dry to avoid misshapen. A collapsible sweater rack with flat mesh shelves is okay. After completely dry, store sweaters neatly folded, - and don't hang them, which can stretch out the sleeves.

If the sweater pills, skim surface gently with a sweater stone (a pumice-like rock) in one direction. As much as possible, avoid using those little electric shavers because it can easily puncture or snag the fabric.

The Proper Winter Makeup

The sharp cold weather of winter is unkind to anyone, including the skin. It changes your natural skin tones which can even lead to disaster! But there are some ways to tweak your makeup and make the difference.

Build a base and match your foundation to your neck and decolletage. These areas can be a touch darker than your face, but still looks natural. Use a concealer to cover blemishes and dark circles which are more noticeable in winter when skin is pale and dry.

Pick a lighter color in the winter. Choose a powder bronzer that's no more than one shade darker than your skin tone. Blend it with the apple of your cheeks in a circular motion using a big round brush, then top it off with blush.

Avoid frosted shadow which can wash you out. make your eye makeup more dramatic when you are wearing dark colors and heavy fabrics. Pick lipstick over stains, which can be drying and patchy-looking.
Exfoliate lips gently at least once a week.

If the weather is really biting cold and windy, and you will be outdoor for a while, switch to a waterproof mascara. If your makeup tends to rub off with your scarf, or hat, put a little pressed powder before you head out.

I haven't been posting personal updates here lately...and I am guilty. :(. Anyway, I got caught up with so many things to do including big trips! As usual, I do usually share my every trip adventure to my other blog, Trails and Travelogues if I really get the full time to sit in front of my PC. Someday soon, I have to frequent some more personal notes about me. Another thing is that whenever I get the chance (tiny bit), I usually work on our website, which is still under the process of construction. I will be sharing our domain site some time soon. It has a lot of work on it, so that divides my time updating on my blogs! :(.
