Facts About All Invitations

It should always be a smart thing to learn the basics about invitations.

What: The standard set includes an invitation, a reception card (if party and ceremony are in separate places), an RSVP card or postcard and outer envelopes. Inner envelopes are also included with formal engraved invitations.

Where: Order personally or online. While ordering online may cost less, you'll be missing the instant tactile preview.

When: Mail invitations 4-6 weeks before the big day, unless you're having a destination wedding or getting married on a holiday. In these cases, send them 8 weeks ahead.

How Many: Get enough invites for the wedding party, your parents, and the "B" list. Save for 25 extra envelopes; it's common to make address mistakes.
