Tips On Getting Fit

Start slowly and don't overdo it.

You can enjoy being active when you like what you do. So, choose the activities you like such as gardening, dancing, jogging or walking.

Try the habit of exercising at a regular time daily so it becomes a routine.

It greatly helps to ask a friend to be active with your...your buddy system.

If you're not so sure about the right intensity of exercise for you, ask your doctor.

Raising Your Kids To Be Healthier

According to a CDC study, childhood obesity has been tripled in the past 30 years. So, it is just vital for parents to remember that obesity as a child can be carried out through into adulthood.

Here are some ideas that help:

  • Instead of getting some potato chips and cookies, why not choose a better alternative such as low-fat yogurt, fruit, pretzels or string cheese.
  • If you drink juice, let your kids have no more than 4-6 ounces of juice a day.
  • Try incorporating eating at least 5 fruits and a vegetable a day. It is a fun way to think of the colors of the rainbow, and choose fruits and veggies accordingly.
  • Encourage your kids to be more engaged in physical activity. Limit TV and computer/video games to no more than 1-2 hours a day; this way kids will be more encouraged to be more active.

Another Snowy Day!

So today starts another snowy day until tomorrow afternoon (Monday, 3/17). It's only 3 days before the official spring season kicks off, but Mr. Winter seems to be persistent staying for a while. [sigh!]

On the other end, it will be another no work day for the hubby, the only reason why I like snowy days sometimes, lol! In this case, I won't mind Mr. winter staying for a bit til tomorrow! The previous snow days were more than enough to handle, but more time to hang out with my husband. ;)

I hope this would be the last snow we are having before the winter finally ends. It doesn't seem right to be enjoying spring and snows are still a lot on sight!

Get Your Kids A Backyard Playground!

For kids, play is one of the most vital aspect of their childhood. They would surely love when you take them to the public parks or amusement parks as they sometimes need a BIG treat from mom and dad. On the other hand, public parks can sometimes pose danger for them, and amusement parks can be expensive for a tight budget.

So, it is always good to set their exposure moderately for their interpersonal skills with other children when it comes to playing in a public park. It would be worth the money to invest for swing sets in williamsburg va and convert your backyard into a playground for your kids, don't you think? A family bonding with the little ones enjoying their own playground is worth the buy. And you don't have to worry about their safety too! Think about it. Consider it a special treat for your kids, and for your own peace of mind as well ;).

A Movie Date!

I and hubby usually watch movies when we see some good ones in the weekends at our nearby movie theater which is in Westminster. And of course, it would always be English movies.

But today, we thought of watching a Filipino movie at AMC Loews Rio Cinemas in Gaithersburg. This was actually our 2nd time to watch a Filipino movie; - ("Bride For Rent"). I always considered it as worth the time doing it because the hubby can understand it too! Thank God for subtitles! ;)

As usual, the movie was always better than what I expected it to be! There's always something good moral lesson that you can take from the movie which is a good thing.

Although it's a bit quite of a long drive (an hour away from home), it's always worth looking forward to. This means if there will be one coming again worth watching, we will do it again. Just that this is the only movie theater that offers Filipino movies closest to us. We won't mind, an hour drive away.

How To Stack Up Your Foldables Neatly On Your Closet.

There are smart techniques of stacking up a neat, organized foldables in your shelves depending on your garment types.
For lingeries, consider investing on a drawer divider that has 6-inch wide sections. This is to prevent your fancy delicate intimates from tangles coming from bra hooks.

For bulky clothings like sweaters, control your stacks height to 8-10 inches max. Bulkiest pieces can be placed at the bottom of pile to prevent unstable, top-heavy formation. Make separate columns for cardigans, turtlenecks, etc..so you don't need to unfold them all when you need either one of them.

Tuck sweater arms first to prevent creases. Don't fold them down the front. Put extremely high-maintenance knits in a clear, protective sweater bags.

Don't hang knits to avoid stretched-out silhouettes and lumpy shoulders.

My Transparency Sundry Kit

I thought I can probably use it as a purse to put my personal travel stuff in it, then place it inside my wheeled carry-on, so I got one online.
But after a thorough look when I received it, it's really was designed for toiletries...lol. Oh, well!

Although it didn't serve the purpose why I bought it, t'was nice to have it for beach stuff. It's made of clear vinyl but durable plastic and ideal to use when I go through security checks when traveling. It also has a separate mesh compartment under its zippered cover lid, ideal for placing small, loose items.

Although it would have been better if the handle is on top instead of being at the side. But it wouldn't be a big issue for just toiletries, so it's still workable in any way. Can't wait for summer! ;)

Basic Helpful Tricks to Organize Your Closet

An obvious fact is that  if you can't see it, you won't be able to wear it. So if you want all your clothes to get the chance of being used and worn, know the basics of organizing them. :)

One of the important key is to consider an ample contrast between your clothes and the walls. While a white paint is just fine, it's probably preferrable to consider bright-colored wall papers.

Since most closets aren't well-lighted, stick-on LED lights are smart solution to be able for you to see every inch of space.

It's also a smart idea to sort your clothes by garment types, then by color. You might also want to consider classifying them into smaller sections by sleeve and hem lengths.

Those clothes that need stacking such as jeans, sweaters and tees can be placed on an open-air shelves better than inside a dresser.
