Raising Your Kids To Be Healthier
According to a CDC study, childhood obesity has been tripled in the past 30 years. So, it is just vital for parents to remember that obesity as a child can be carried out through into adulthood.
Here are some ideas that help:
- Instead of getting some potato chips and cookies, why not choose a better alternative such as low-fat yogurt, fruit, pretzels or string cheese.
- If you drink juice, let your kids have no more than 4-6 ounces of juice a day.
- Try incorporating eating at least 5 fruits and a vegetable a day. It is a fun way to think of the colors of the rainbow, and choose fruits and veggies accordingly.
- Encourage your kids to be more engaged in physical activity. Limit TV and computer/video games to no more than 1-2 hours a day; this way kids will be more encouraged to be more active.
