Is There Such Thing As Male Menopause?

The term "male menopause" has become a little bit of a buzz phrase recently describing men's low testosterone levels. But medically speaking, there is no such thing.

Women lose estrogen at menopause, and men's testosterone levels gradually decline about 1-2% each year at the average starting at 30 years old.
However, it's not clear that these hormonal changes have the same effect in men's moods and bodies like women do.
Men can feel low energy, irritability, decreased sex drive or erectile dysfunction on low testosterone, they can be just signs of aging!

It's always good to encourage your partner to see his doctor, who can rule out other medical causes for his mood swings like depression or diabetes in addition to checking his testosterone levels.
