Stem Cell Treatment?
According to neurosurgeon Alfredo Hinojosa, stem cell research is exciting and promising, but doesn't say it's anywhere near ready for clinical use.
If you've seen those ads for stem cell treatments for conditions like Alzheimer's, stroke, etc...don't get caught up with those claims because they aren't just ready yet for prime time. Besides, the ads are based on patients' testimonials and not published results, and lack sound scientific explanations for how or why they should be working.
On the other hand, Dr. Margakis, MD and his other colleagues from Johns Hopkins say that they're making progress in stem cell therapy research for brain cancer and neurological conditions.
