How to Whiten Your Teeth Effectively

Did you know that peroxide in whitening treatments doesn't work for everyone? In this case, you might want to check your teeth color this way:

Hold a piece of white paper next to your teeth. If your teeth seem yellow, the treatment will work. If they look gray, staining is from within and can only be fixed by covering them with bonding or veneers.

At-home whitening treatments which use peroxide are effective although not as fast as in office treatments.

Prep your teeth before whitening them and they should be as clean as possible. If you prefer, do it right after a cleaning at the dentist, so the peroxide is in direct contact with your enamel, not plaque.

Follow it up by brushing your teeth with a whitening toothpaste to prevent new stains. Avoid dark mouthwashes, - once the alcohol evaporates, the pigment will stain.

Drink and eat right. Take water after you drink coffee or red wine. It takes 30 seconds for a pigment to penetrate, so water will wash it away.
Try adding skim milk to your coffee to help avoid pigments, as well as eating foods rich in cellulose like carrots, celery and kale.
