Staying Cold & Flu - Free This Season!
Whether we like it or not, wherever we go, we're not so safe to say we are totally protected from colds or flu especially if people around you would start sniffling, coughing and sneezing!
But seriously, we can lower our odds of getting ill by taking simple precautions to avoid germs and boost our immune system.
Always say yes to flu shot. The ideal time to get it is before the onset of flu season (November - December) but it's never too late to do it these days.
Eat food such as high-quality protein like fish, lean meats and beans which are needed to help build white blood cells (body defenders); take brightly colored fruits and veggies too which provide immune-boosting antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids.
Exercise keeps you from getting sick by stimulating the immune cells that target cold infections. Just don't overdo it. Heavy exertions like marathon may increase your risk of catching seasonal bugs allowing the virus to gain a foothold.
Hydrate inside and out. So, keep the air at home warm and moist. Maintain around 50% humidity and set room temperatures to at least 69% by using a humidifier.
Proper body hydration is essential as well. So drink a lot of water.
